Shine Police

Friday, 15 March 2013

I was completely blown away by the gorgeous packaging of Sisley's Phyto-poudre Compacte. I wanted to make sure that the product lived up to the packaging before I wrote a review. I was ecstatic to find out, it really does.

I have been using this product for a couple of months now and it's become a handbag essential for me. It's a light weight powder that is perfect for my pale sensitive skin. It comes in 3 different shades. The shade I have been using is N2.

I'm not normally a big fan of pressed powders. I often find them heavy, a little drying and itchy. However, this power is light and truly feels like soft velvet on the skin. It glides on really smoothly to give a soft natural finish (when used sparingly).

I have real issues with powders and normally avoid anything like this on my temperamental skin. But, used lightly on my t-zone I've had no issues thus far.

The powder contains Camellia extract that helps control shine. I normally only wear a tinted moisturiser, currently Bobbi Brown's in extra light tint, but when I'm out for the day, or in need of some extra coverage, I opt for Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua cream foundation in Beige 10. Both of these give me heaps of moisture - which I love. My skin literally drinks it up. The only down side is that sometimes these can leave my skin a little shiny, this is where powder comes to the rescue.

I like to use a powder to set my make up and to take any shine away. I have found many powders to be too dark in pigment or irritating to my skin. They can feel heavy and clogging. Unlike this wonderful Sisley powder that is just fab. A tiny pat on my nose, and temples, and I have a healthy matte finish that is light and airy.

I seriously love the packaging of Sisley's Phyto-poudre Compacte. It's a really fun animal print compact. With a good sized mirror - it is perfect to pop in your handbag. I must admit, I use my powder brush to apply the powder in the mornings as I feel it gives a lighter application. The powder pad, that's included, is perfect for little touch ups on the go.

The powder is available to buy online at House of Fraser and I've seen it in store at Harvey Nichols. It's not cheap at £58, but it is so worth the splurge.
