Dermatude Facial with Bloomin Beautiful

How does Meta Therapy work?
Image from Dermatude.com

Working as a Beauty Editor definitely has some fab perks, getting to try new and excitement treatments is by far the best one.

Working with Total Swindon means I've been able to work with some fantastic experts in the beauty field, and none more so than Caroline from Bloomin Beautiful (a rather fabulous beauticians based in Swindon).

I first went into Bloomin Beautiful to experience an Environ Facial and skin scan - which was great. You can read my full review here. The skin scan was a great way of really looking into your skin's health, and was very useful in helping you decide on the right products best suited for your skin type.

My biggest problem, apart from dreaded hormonal breakouts, is the slight scaring I have on my cheeks and forehead. I had never really thought much about how to improve the appearance of these, as I assumed the only way would be expensive (and painful) laser treatment.

That is before I was introduced to Dermatude - which I really knew very little about. Dermatude is a type of Meta Therapy that involves making lots of tiny, (as in so small you can’t see them), micro-perforations on the top layer of the skin. Now this might sound painful, but I can assure you it really wasn’t too bad at all – waxing hurts a lot more!

Life // A New Spring in My Step and Bath in Fashion

Saturday, 26 April 2014

April so far has been just incredible! After a lot of hard work and dedication, and an absolute refusal to give up, I am pleased to announce I have started a brand spanking-new job. I am now - drum roll please - a Digital Content Editor for the for the amazing Total Guide to Ltd.

I studied English at uni, but never really knew what I wanted to do. It was 6 years ago when I graduated, and it was only in the last 2/3 years that I realised I wanted to work in the media. Not being fresh out of Uni, I thought I would find a lot of obstacles in pursuing a career change to this industry. Luckily for me, my commitment and passion, and a whole lot of freelancing has paid off.

So far my month has been jam packed full. My first week started with Coba Cocktail Ice Lollies and ended with my, extremely well deserving, boss the stunning Liz Ledger (who I am hoping will inspire my waist line not just my career) winning Business Person of the Year after a champagne reception at the glitzy Wiltshire Business Awards.

I have honestly had such an amazing first few weeks and I couldn't of ask for lovelier work colleagues.

But, little did I know the best was yet to come. Bath in Fashion, now that's what I'm talking about!

I am so excited to be going along to some of the events to cover them for our Bath site. With the likes of Barbara Hulanicki (the brains behind the iconic brand BIBA), Mary Homer of Topshop, Vogue on Vivienne Westwood, Makeup Masterclasses, catwalks and much much more Bath in Fashion 2014 looks to be a huge success - and I can't wait!

You can check out our coverage and details of all the events here at Total Guide to Bath's Bath in Fashion Guide.

I'd love to know if you are going to any of the events or have been in previous years?

Hopefully, I'll see some of you there!

The Out -Takes of TGtS Summer Hair 2013

Friday, 12 July 2013

As you know, a few weeks back I spent a crazy hectic Saturday at the amazing John Samuel Hair Salon in Swindon doing a mini photo session for my article on Summer Hair in the Total Guide to Swindon's summer edit.

It was a fab afternoon. We had the lovely Sass and Holly at our disposal to help produce some top summer hair styles - check out the feature here if you haven't already.

The team at John Samuel's are amazing - Sass, who runs the salon, and stylist Holly did a fab job. A HUGE thank you to them for giving up a their Saturday afternoon. And of course my models! Unfortunately my stylist Chloe was away on holiday when we did the shoot - or else she'd of got her creative hands in the mix too.

I really can't rave enough about the salon. The design is sleek and stylish - the staff amazingly friendly, warm and welcoming. But, most importantly, I love what they do to my hair. They have years of expertise and use top of the range products and tools to help make the most of your locks. They also use the L'Oreal Colour range, which is great for me as I'm a fuss pot when it comes to my high lights!

You can keep updated on all the salon offers and what's new on the John Samuel Face Book Page.

We are having the Total Guide to Swindon Summer Party soon - and I can't wait! I have already booked my appointment with Chloe to make sure my hair looks fabulous! I'll let you know what look I went for when I actually decide.. which will more than likely be on the day..

Anyways, here are some of the out-takes from the afternoon, enjoy.

And finally, here is a picture of the ladies themselves, which I took from their website.
Sass, Holly and Chloe - thanks ladies!

Summer Hair Trends '13

Thursday, 27 June 2013

I have been super busy as of late - so apologies for not blogging in a while. I am almost, in the last stage now, a very proud home owner with the lovely Kevin - so that has been taking up a lot of time - mainly reading and signing and more reading!

I have also been super busy with Total Guide to Swindon helping write a few beauty articles for their Summer Edit.

Of the articles, one was a 'how-to guide' for Summer Hair Trends. I had a fab day producing this one as the lovely ladies Sass and Holly at John Samuel's Hair Salon Swindon styled all the pictures! What absolute stars?? They have a fab salon and always produce great results.

I also dragged a few friends along - who kindly volunteered to model in exchange for cocktails.

I have some fab out-take shots that I will put up in a day or tow (or when I have a moment!), but in the mean-time, why not check out my article and let me know what you think?

Here is a sneaky peek of one of the four styles we created:
